Man,
It may be stated  by  way of  a summary that  the
construction of the bones and joints of the vertebral column, pelvis and limbs are such that they permit Man to assume a permanently erect attitude, whereas they only allow the Chimpanzee and Gorilla to be erect for short periods only.
